Archives in the library

Archives and Library Volunteers work behind the scenes as well as at the forefront in an effort to make the U.S. Army Women's Museum the "go to" place for research resources on women in the Army. There are a number of ongoing projects in which volunteers can serve vital roles in completing.

Archives and Library Volunteers should:

  • Be detail-oriented
  • Possess good organizational, communication and customer service skills

Some of the projects include:

  • Organizing and arranging archival material in alphabetical, chronological or other appropriate orders
  • Labeling archival documents, folders and containers
  • Compiling lists of materials in collections as appropriate
  • Compiling, inputting and formatting data on collection material and collection activities in manual and automated files
  • Preparing materials for digitization
  • Digitizing archives and inputting data into database software applications
  • Performing clerical functions incidental to library activities
