The U.S. Army Women's Museum serves as an educational institution, providing military history training and instruction to soldiers, veterans and the civilian community. The Museum has one of the most comprehensive and expansive collections in the world of primary and secondary documents pertaining to the history of U.S. Army women. The museum is the custodian and repository of artifacts and archival material pertaining to the service of women across all branches and organizations of the U.S. Army from inception to the present day. The museum collects, preserves, manages, interprets and exhibits these unique artifacts as a means to provide training and educational outreach.

The Museum has developed several different programs designed to be interactive, interesting and relevant for Soldiers of every rank. Our education programs are 1 hour in length and include an interactive, hands-on element and a guided gallery tour. We have museum programs designed specifically for various branches of the Army. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Army women in specific fields. We also provide programs from any time period of interest: American Revolution, Civil War, World War I or World War II. You will learn about how the Army has evolved and about the changing role of women. Watch as the story of people's experiences are brought alive right in front of you and enjoy handling objects from past times. We are not only "women's history" we are "Army history!" Exciting New Film Chronicles the Last Few Days of the 24th Evac Hospital in Saigon, Vietnam.
Chris McIntyre, former Marine and Vietnam Veteran, wrote and produced a poignant, moving, visually stimulating and historically accurate film about the experience of members of the 24th Evacuation Hospital in the last few week in Vietnam. Titled "21 And A Wakeup," it is the first war movie filmed in Vietnam since the end of U.S. involvement there. The film has been screened in numerous installations across the country. The Museum's policy on responding to inquiries that ask "Who Was The First?"
We are often asked who was the “first” to do this, the “first” assigned to do that, the “oldest,” “youngest” etc. These are questions that we are unable to answer, unless it is a case of known fact in the U.S. Army. Therefore, as a matter of policy, the U.S. Army Women’s Museum will not sanction any claim of “firsts, etc.”
The Museum has over 1.5 million documents in its archives and we continue to collect additional data every day. We are sorry that we do not have the resources to research these difficult type of questions and thus, we cannot provide a definitive answer about a "first."
