Students have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to look back in time at the life of a woman whose story contributed to U.S. history. They will examine her personal letters, read newspaper accounts and study photographs to prepare the student to write a biography. The teacher chooses the time period from which the students will meet this woman: American Revolution, Civil War, Western Frontier, Era of Imperialism, WWI, Great Depression, WWII, Korean War, Civil Rights, Vietnam, Cold War, Equal Rights, Present Day. Critical thinking skills, analysis of primary and secondary documents characterize the program.
